MDS Coordinator

 Michelle Hawkins

I have been a nurse for 27 years and prior to that worked as a CNA. I thought that working in my local nursing home would be a good starting point for my nursing career with the goal to gain experience then transition into hospital nursing ultimately moving into ER/Trauma. That didn’t happen. I fell in love with the seniors that I came to know and have never left long-term care. My experience includes: Charge Nurse, Night Charge Nurse, Wound Care Nurse, QA Nurse, MDS Coordinator (back when we still did them on paper), Medicare Nurse, Admissions Nurse Coordinator, Health Services Director, Director of MDS and Director of Nursing. I credit Foundation Properties with helping me to form my views of senior care and how it can/should be. I was a member of the Foundation Properties family for a little over 10 years and am excited to be back.

When I am not working, I am honing my skills as a lapidary artist and silversmith. I like to travel, ride motorcycles, play with my 3 weimaraners, and I am a small business owner. Working with seniors has been my passion and I am thankful to everyone that I have come in contact with over the years. I have learned much from them and look forward to learning more as new people come into my life.
